What to see in Inverness
Inverness (in Scottish Gaelic: Inbhir Nis, in Scottish: Innerness) is the capital and only city of the Highland Unitary Council in Scotland, United Kingdom. In addition, it is considered and publicized as the capital of the region of the Highlands. The city of Inverness is unusual because, although there is a real patent in 2001, the city has no established limits.
The city of Inverness is at the mouth of the Ness River in the Fjord of Moray (in English: Moray Firth) and serves as a connection point between various means of transport. The first human establishments in the area date from the 6th century BC. C., and the first letter Puebla, from the thirteenth century. Near it took place the battle of Culloden, in the 18th century.
Inverness has a population of 51 832 inhabitants (2001 census), and sends representatives to the parliaments of Holyrood and Westminster. Among the multiple sporting and cultural events that houses the city, it is worth highlighting the Highland Games ("Games of the Highlands"), as well as the games of the Inverness Team Caledonian Thistle F.C., which plays in the First Division of Scotland.
